Dedicated C's Review
Damn you Anna Todd! Why, just why?
I said it before in my last review that Tessa was a strong woman. The shit she has gone through could last her a life time. I have never read a book with so much drama. Things are just thrown at this character left and right. I would have had a break down if I was her. The stuff she puts up with between Hardin, her mother and her friends - the betrayers! It's all just so much. The poor girl is going to need some Prozac.... and soon!
Hardin, poor Hardin. Just when he has come such a long way things are blown up in his face. The constant battle within himself is enough for one person to endure. And he too, now, has things thrown at him from every direction. His father, his mother, Tessa’s family, his stupid friends. He's trying so hard to contain his anger. Yet everything seems to be working against him. The only keeping him together is his fear of losing her. Her ever constant love for him keeps him going.
Everything seems to be working against them; his need to claim her, her need to control everything, every person in their life and every aspect of their life seems a forever struggle. How much can a person or couple take when everything seems thrown at them?
This book has so many aspects that I didn't like. And the thing is I can't tell you because they're spoilers. I can't stand spoilers. If I have to ride this messed up roller coaster, so do you!
Now that I said that, I do have to say that in spite of all the bad stuff that happens I loved this book. I love the love they have for each other. The strong bond that holds them together is nothing like I ever read. If you've read, Fifty Shades of Grey, The Crossfire Series, or even the Stark Trilogy (LOVE THOSE BOOKS) you know that sometimes love it at first sight. But there is books like; The New Hope Series by Lexi Ryan or the Little Bits Series by A. E. Murphy that are not like that. These are gradual love. Love that develops. This series; the After Series, is somewhere in between love at first sight and gradual. For me, for a book, it's a happy medium.
Can Tessa and Hardin overcome the events that are about to follow? I hope so. Hardin is going to be in a bad place that’s for sure. When he learns that is life is not what it seemed and that every person in his life has betrayed him, can Tessa’s love and her voice in his head be enough to help him? I don't know.
But I can tell you this much... I'm going to find out because it's time for book #4. And I'm done riding this damn roller-coaster. I do love these books. I just hope they end happily and if not happily then they end right.
I'll let you know! Happy reading!
